We are delighted to be offering this outstanding course again in Vancouver, for anyone who wishes to learn how to meditate, and/or deepen their meditative experience. This course fosters a deeply personal experience of your Infinite Nature. Meditate deeply and give yourself to the transformational process that will free you to be YOU—stronger, clearer, and more radiant!


Why 21 Stages?

There are stages? The real question is why do we practice meditation in the first place. Happiness. Fulfillment. Refinement of our consciousness. By articulating and describing each of the 21 Stages of Meditation, we capture in words the states of consciousness that are traversed by those who use the power of meditation to enhance their lives in their pursuit of happiness, fulfillment, and peace of mind.

The 21 Stages of Meditation course gives you the tools and experiences to deepen your meditation and come to a profound understanding of your Self. As you progress through three meditative “Journeys” towards Realization, the class explores the natural structure and qualities of each of the 21 stages.

The experiences of one stage support the progress in the next stage. You can explore any of the stages on your own as an individual practice as the benefits of each meditation stands on its own. However, the power of practicing an entire journey comes from the intensity of the practice when done in sequence, within a concentrated period, and in a community of practitioners.


Who can take this course?
We’ve gotten a lot of questions about who can come—and the answer is anyone! We only ask that you have some Kundalini Yoga experience!

This course is a great foundation for deepening your understanding of meditation as taught by Yogi Bhajan.

What do you mean by “First Journey”?
The entire 21 Stages of Meditation course consists of 3 “journeys” or meditative processes. Each journey is taught over a 2-day course.
Do I have to take the journeys in order?
No. This course is designed to be taken repeatedly as yo continue on your journey of meditation and contemplation. You may take the journeys in any order and retake them as often as you like.
I’ve taken this journey before, should I take it again?
Yes! Each time you approach these powerful meditative practices you are in a different place in your life and will have different experiences and insights. This is a course that is meant to be repeated.



First Journey: Crystallize the Self

Upset? Boredom? Irritation? Frustration? Focus. Absorption. Now we’re getting somewhere! We don’t often associate “negative” sensations and feelings like Irritation and Frustration with Meditation; yet these are very real stages that we must pass through and learn to conquer in order to achieve Focus (Dhyan) and Absorption (Pratyahar) and ultimately fulfill the First Journey in the 21 STAGES OF MEDITATION as outlined by Yogi Bhajan: The Crystallized Self.

Second Journey: The Expressive Self

RASA • DELIGHT • POLITENESS • HUMILITY • ELEVATION • GRACEFUL ENLIGHTENMENT • EXPRESS & BE YOURSELF
In this second journey, we deepen our sensitivity and understanding that we are involved in creating each and every moment of our lives. Once we recognize the Self, how do we express that Self creatively, authentically and effectively through our actions? The initial challenge is to develop a sensitivity to the Self, we stabilize our sense of Self while in relationship to others. We give ourselves the capacity, in consciousness, to become graceful, enlightened presence that creates, heals, and uplifts everything we touch.

Third Journey: The Transcendent Self

In this Third Journey, we explore the realms of the Transcendental Self, bringing a fulfillment and clarity that is deep and true, beyond the Finite Self and the burdens of the ego. We tap into our natural state of wisdom, infinite innocence at play, and a presence that observes yet participates in all things with spontaneity and grace. Motto of this journey: Less Ego, More Bliss! Find what it really means to have merger with the Infinite Self, and the peace and power that brings.

The Teachers

GURU RAJ KAUR KHALSA is a KRI Certified Level Three Teacher and Senior Lead Trainer of Level One & Two Programs. She is head of Yoga West’s Training Team. Guru Raj Kaur brought Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan to Vancouver 47 years ago. Devoted to the purity and authenticity of this body of Teachings, she has been foundational to the development of the KRI Aquarian Teacher Training Academy. An original student of Yogi Bhajan’s, she shares the Teachings with a warmth, humour, integrity, and radiance that elevates the spirit.

HARI SINGH KHALSA is the beloved Head Teacher and Manager of Yoga West. He is a KRI Certified Level Two Practitioner, and a Level One Professional Trainer. He is a dedicated Kundalini Yogi for over 45years. One of Yogi Bhajan’s original pioneer teachers, he brings a deep devotion and warm wit to his teaching. He is also our Gong Master, and will bring to you a deep experience of the depths that the Gong can take you.

NIRMAL KAUR is a KRI Certified Level two practitioner, and a Level One Professional Trainer. She is a steadfast member of the Yoga West Teacher Training Team.
Nirmal Kaur is a Certified Practitioner of Sat Nam Rasayan (R)—“Deep relaxation in the True Name”—and has a healing practice in this tradition. Her strong meditative practice allows for a stable container, in which students can drop deeply into their own experience. She loves the teachings and delivers them with maturity, sensitivity and humor.

Pre-requisite

Though all are welcome into this course, it is highly recommended that you have experienced some Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan by attending several classes beforehand. Three are recommended as minimum. This course is open to individuals of all levels of meditation: beginner, advanced, curious. It is a profound experience! This course is also part of the Level Three Teacher Training of the Aquarian Academy. Completion of this course will give you credit towards that program, after you complete Levels 1 and Level 2.

21 Stages of Meditation Book

The book 21 Stages of Meditation contains the meditations that will be covered during the course. It is a beautiful book. It is not included in the course fee, and not necessary to own for successful participation in the program. If you wish to purchase it, you can find it at Yoga West for $49.95 + tax.
